:: restored cultural heritage from the 3D lab

For seven years the 3D lab of Deggendorf Institute of Technology has been working on a research project for the completion of the partially burned wooden sculpture of St. Luke at the Theatine Church in Munich. It is part of a very important early-baroque ensemble of four evangelists which, like the rest of the church, was seriously affected by World War II.

In an unusual combination of traditional sculpting and new digital technologies missing parts of the precious treasures were reconstructed in detail and recreated in wood with the help of historical photographs.

This website gives a brief overview of the project, the research results and developed procedures that now also in a richly illustrated book have been widely documented.
